Nicole's Food Philosophy

In my opinion “diet” is a four-lettered word. The word diet implies that you change your eating habits to fit within a certain set of standards and rules outside from that which you normally consume. In other words, when most people go on a diet, it’s life span is limited to a certain number of days, or months (if you’re lucky) until your body and mind finally give in and revert back to it’s normal state of eating. Dieting to lose weight or to achieve another health-related goal is an external, short-lived attempt to control our body and mind. These attempts fail every time! Therefore, I don’t recommended diets, meal plans, counting calories, points, grams or weighing food.

Instead, I focus on helping you change your behaviors around food and lifestyle by connecting your eating and energy patterns to what may be missing or lacking in your life. Emphasis is placed on learning which foods are the most nourishing to us and how to begin tuning in to what our body is telling us about how much, when and what to eat. When we will become better listeners to our bodies, we achieve higher energy levels, and become more comfortable with our body and self.

Food and eating recommendations are based on transforming your diet at a slow and comfortable pace. We will discover the many areas of your eating patterns such as eating rhythms and speed, macronutrient balance and quality of food within your day to day. The foods I may recommend fit within the following categories: Low glycemic, Anti-Inflammatory, Whole Foods Based/Natural, Alkaline, Nutrient dense and most of all Nourishing to you!

What are your habits saying to you? Often times, we use food, lifestyle, lack of movement, excessive movement, tight control over our d-I-e-t, etc to mask underlying feelings. What we do (or don’t do) with ourselves via food, lifestyle, etc. is oftentimes a reflection of what we do with the rest of our lives. I help by holding up a mirror for you. I don’t offer fancy diets, nor do I recommend counting anything. Rather, I encourage you to take small steps to improve the quality of your diet and lifestyle while understanding the reasons why certain habits have shown up in your life. We then work towards developing new, healthy habits based on new, healthy beliefs.
